Brazil Visa Information

Tourist Visa Apply To:

  • Visits to Brazil for Leisure or Tourism
  • Participation in conferences/seminars/workshops. (In the case, an invitation/registration/confirmation letter from the organizer in Brazil is required).
  • Visit relatives and/or friends
  • Unpaid participation in athletic or artistic event or completion (in this case an invitation letter from the sponsoring organization in Brazil is requited).
  • Unpaid participation in a scientific/academic seminar or conference sponsored by a research or academic institution (in this case an invitation letter from the sponsoring organization in Brazil is required).


Required Documentation
NOTE: please note that you are fully responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in your application.

  1. Valid Passport (for at least 6 months prior to its expiration date) which will be retained by this Embassy during the process period.  It must have at least two black pages available
  2. Visa Application Form per Applicant that MUST be filled in Online.
  3. PRINT Protocol document issued after filling out the online form. Please sign the protocol document in the appropriate space and glue a Photograph (passport size). Please note that the protocol is valid for 1 month (after this period a new application must be made).
  4. Applicants under 18 must present a notarized letter of consent, signed by parents or guardian (with proof of guardianship, in the case). Such notarized letter is not necessary when both parents are submitting their own visa applications along with the minor in question.
  5. Photocopy of round trip ticket to Brazil or ticket in transit, with flights numbers, dates and itinerary. Instead of a ticket, the Embassy with also accept a signed letter from the carrier or travel agent, on company letterhead, with the name of the vessel(in case of ships), itinerary, dates or arrival in departure from Brazil.
  6. Airlines employees or persons on standby with open tickets must present tickets with itinerary and an airlines ID card (or a signed letter from the airlines on company letterhead), with the name of the employee and his/her itinerary.
  7. All applications must present proof of earning (letter of employer or statement of earnings). In case of self-employed, student or unemployed, a statement of earnings or a copy of last year’s income tax from spouse or parents is acceptable (in case or online statements, the statement print out must be stamped by the bank before being submitted to the Consular Section). For retired, any proof of income can be presented (e.g. pension, rental…) or a copy of last year’s income tax.
  8. If applicable, polio vaccination certificate (only children between the ages of 3 months and 6 years).

Note: the Embassy may request additional documents when applicable.
Method of payment and fees

  • All consular fees must be paid by certified cheque or money order payable to Embassy of Brazil in Ottawa.
  • Note: DO NOT make money order or certified cheque payable to Embassy of Brazil in Ottawa id your documents will not be processed by this location.

Processing period

  • 10(ten) working days (plus delivery time for applicants applying via ml). Please note that this period may vary and the actual pick up date will be informed by the clerk at this time of visa drop-off
