Esteemed New Instructors Join Agri-Food Management Excellence
July 10, 2013
Agri-Food Management Excellence (AME) is pleased to welcome well-respected new instructors for the CTEAM management programs. Terry Betker, Merle Good and Tracy L. Hanson demonstrate the same enthusiastic approach to teaching that is shared by current AME instructors.
“AME is proud to have attracted three additional dynamic instructors,” said AME Partner Heather Broughton. “We are very pleased to give participants the opportunity to learn from the vast knowledge and experience of such well-regarded experts as Merle, Terry and Tracy.”
Merle Good is a finance and taxation specialist who teaches AME participants how to focus on identifying and adapting financial management and tax-related strategies with their unique business structures. After 25 years as the Provincial Tax Specialist for Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, he recently launched a private consulting business focused on using his expertise to meet the ever-evolving needs of Alberta’s agricultural industry.
Tracy L. Hanson is a lawyer and professional agrologist who provides instruction on legal structures and tax strategies. For almost 20 years, Tracy’s practice has focused on farm and business succession planning, taxation, estate planning and estate administration. She has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course, and has lectured and published papers on legal topics.
Terry Betker supports the CTEAM program with his experience in developing and implementing business management programs that align strategy with managerial and financial performance. Terry has completed the Executive Program for Agricultural Producers at Texas A & M University. He is a Certified Agricultural Consultant, Certified Management Consultant and has certification in Mediation Theory and Strategic Planning.
CTEAM is designed for producers and ranchers. It is an intensive four-week course that is staggered over two years to enable participants to apply what they learn to their business. It focuses on major aspects of management training including: strategic planning, financial management, marketing, succession planning, and operations management. Courses also include tours of outstanding operations. When people finish the program, they will have received coaching tailored to their own operations in developing a strategic and operating plan. CTEAM can be credited toward an MBA at the University of Guelph.
The Alumni program is developed with an AME Alumni Council. The next Alumni course is scheduled for February 2014 and will take place in Brazil to enable visits to exemplary businesses. Please visit www.agrifoodtraining.com for further details.
